A collective of radical creatives and musicians using art and sound to resist, remember, and rebuild.

Born from the shared grief of Gaza and Ferguson, Voices of Dissent is creating original music that speaks to struggle, survival, and solidarity. Our first collection of songs is a tribute to those whose lives have been shaped by occupation, policing, and protest. This is just the beginning—we're building toward something bigger.

— OUR COLLECTION IS COMING SOON —
Stay tuned for the release of 20+ original songs shaped by the voices of dissent.

INSIDE THE VOICES

Who We Are

Voices of Dissent is a justice-driven music and storytelling project inspired by the powerful parallels between life under occupation in Palestine and systemic injustice in communities like Ferguson.

What started as a moment at a vigil has become a growing cultural movement: a cross-genre, cross-discipline collective united by the belief that art can build bridges, shift narratives, and hold power accountable.

Why This Matters

In a world where stories are erased, silenced, or distorted, we choose to sing them.

This project uplifts Black, Palestinian, Arab, Muslim, and other historically marginalized voices, positioning their truths at the center of the cultural stage.

Our work is a cultural offering to the city—a way to remember, resist, and reimagine through music. It is also a model for solidarity-driven cultural production, rooted in care, inclusion, and transformation.

“it’s about showing that we’re still here, still fighting, and we’re not going anywhere. We’re turning our rage into something beautiful and undeniable.”

— Katarra, Co-founder Voices of Dissent

OUR APPROACH

Resistance and Reclamation

Music has the power to push back against systems that silence people. Songs are an act of defiance, reclaiming the narrative from those who would erase our stories. This project is about speaking up, standing strong, and fighting back with every note.

Healing Through Storytelling

Each song is a powerful act of defiance, turning pain into something that heals and unites. This project transforms personal and collective trauma into art that speaks truth to power and challenges the forces that seek to divide us.

Community and Connection

The heart of this project is community. The music draws people together, creating connections that transcend borders and backgrounds. It’s about building a movement where everyone’s voice matters, and where the power of collective action is undeniable.

OPPRESSION ACROSS BORDERS

By blending narratives from Palestine and St. Louis, the music reveals the universal threads of resistance that bind oppressed communities together. It’s about showing the world that what happens on the streets of Gaza echoes in the streets of Ferguson, and that our struggles are interconnected.

NOT VOICELESS, SILENCED

Voices of Dissent amplifies the stories of those who have been systemically marginalized and silenced. From the streets of Gaza to the neighborhoods of St. Louis, the music shines a light on the lived realities of communities that mainstream media ignores and politicians neglect.

Art as Activism

The project redefines music as a tool for activism—a way to document, resist, and fight back against systemic violence. It’s art that doesn’t just tell a story; it demands change, calling on audiences to join the movement and use their voices in the fight for justice.
